Maryland Pro Bono Service Awards PBRC is seeking nominations for the 2015 Maryland Pro Bono Service Awards, to be presented at this year’s MSBA Annual Meeting in Ocean City on Saturday, June 13. These awards serve as a way of honoring outstanding attorneys, non-attorneys, pro bono programs, law firms, members of the judiciary, and government/corporate entities throughout the state who have made a significant contribution to the delivery of pro bono civil legal services to low-income Marylanders. Upcoming Pro Bono Training Programs Volunteer lawyers are invited to attend the following free or reduced fee training sessions in exchange for a pro bono commitment. Participating volunteers will have access to malpractice insurance, mentors, and case support.

Volunteer attorneys will be expected to provide brief legal advice at the Leadership Academy’s Pro Bono Small Business Boot Camp which will take place on May 2, 2015 at Waverly Elementary/Middle School, 3400 Ellerslie Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21218. This training is required for Boot Camp volunteer attorneys who do not practice business transactions, or who have been practicing for less than two years.

Webcast – Helping Homeowners Avoid Tax Sale in Baltimore City This training is currently available for on-line viewing at the participant’s convenience. Volunteer attorneys will be expected to take one pro bono case and attend at least one of the brief advice clinics being held in Baltimore City on March 21, April 9, and April 15. Volunteers must view the webcast before volunteering at a clinic. The Tax Sale Prevention Project is a partnership of Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service and Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland.
