The Circuit Court for Howard County is once again opening its doors to future legal professionals through the 2026 Law Days of Summer (LDOS), an innovative educational program spearheaded by Judge Stephanie Picard Porter. This year’s program features three full-day sessions, welcoming approximately 100 high school, college, and law students each day for an immersive look at the justice system in action. Participants observe live court proceedings, then engage in post-hearing discussions with judges and attorneys to gain a deeper understanding of the legal issues, courtroom procedures, and decision-making process.
Beyond courtroom observation, Law Days of Summer provides invaluable opportunities for students to network with private attorneys, prosecutors, public defenders, and judges representing a wide range of practice areas and backgrounds. Interactive question-and-answer sessions encourage students to explore career paths, ask candid questions, and gain practical insight into the legal profession. The program was adopted by the Howard County Bar Association and it represent the cornerstone of HCBA’s community outreach, fostering civic engagement and inspiring the next generation of lawyers, judges, and public servants throughout Howard County and beyond. HCBA wants to give a special thank you to the Sponsors: Weinberg & Schwartz, www.wsfamilylaw.com, and Atty Lisa Pryor and Atty Thomas Mulinazzi of MLO/Mulinazzi Law Office, Divorce Lawyers in Maryland | Divorce Attorney Columbia MD (pictured) who serve as moderators.
