February 4, 2024 – HCBA members work connect local teen group to Puppy Play Time project
HCBA Associate Member, Sofia Mulinazzi, organized a group of high schoolers from VolunTeens to come help out to help Karen Amos of Amos Perrick, and her canine fostering efforts by having the teens socialize, play with or walk, and clean up a little after a litter of cute (very) little dogs that Karen is fostering. VolunTeens is a County wide organization that connects high school students with service opportunities and projects and Sofia has worked with Karen in the past and, not surprisingly, the Puppy PlayTime activity is one of the VolunTeens’ favorites. VolunTeens also has monthly cooking classes and ½ the food is donated to local shelters, they rake leaves/snow for neighbors who cannot do it for themselves, they constructed stages for Robinson Nature Center, and many other projects.
See https://volunteensco.com/completed-projects/. But the real hero of this story is Karen Amos and her foster dog, Sudi. Sudi is a wonderful, gentle over seer of all the foster dogs and pups that Karen helps and Sudi’s story is truly heartbreaking. If you are up to it, Sudi’s sad past and her long journey to Karen’s house was featured in People Magazine (see link) or you can just be happy for Sudi that she ended up with Karen. 😊.
